Jim Harris Oct. 8, 2019

Madison, Nebraska (October 8, 2019) – A 56-year-old Norfolk woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday night near Madison, according to a local news release.

The collision occurred around 4:00 p.m. on October 7, on southbound Highway 81.

Authorities said the woman was driving a passenger car when she tried to turn around in the southbound lanes of the highway and was hit by a semi driven by a 34-year-old man from Clark, South Dakota.

The impact caused the car to spin into the westbound ditch while the semi, which was hauling cattle, overturned and slid for about 150 feet further down the roadway.

The woman was taken to a Norfolk hospital with minor injuries.

The semi-truck was uninjured.

Two cattle were killed in the crash.

The crash closed the highway for about four hours.

An investigation is underway.
