MARCUS WARD INJURED IN FATAL CRASH ON HIGHWAY 136 IN JEFFERSON COUNTY

Jefferson County, Nebraska (September 11, 2019) – A man was killed, and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Jefferson County, according to the authorities.

The crash occurred around 5:25 p.m. September 9, on Highway 136.

Deputies said Alexander J. Joubert, 25, of Fairbury, was driving a white SUV eastbound on the highway while a semi-tractor trailer driven by Marcus Ward, 56, of Wisconsin, was heading westbound.

According to witnesses, the SUV swerved into the westbound lane and struck the semi.

Joubert was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, but the SUV’s airbags deployed.

Ward was taken to Jefferson County Health and Life with minor injuries.

The highway was closed for several hours following the crash.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
