MAN HIT, KILLED BY SEMI ON I-80 NEAR SUTHERLAND

Lincoln County, Nebraska (October 19, 2019) – A Florida man was killed in a pedestrian accident early Friday morning near Sutherland, according to a local news source.

The accident took place around 3:10 a.m., October 18, on Interstate 80 at mile marker 153.

NSP said the man’s car had broken down and he was walking in the center of the eastbound right lane when he was hit by a westbound semi-truck driven by a 28-year-old California man.

The semi then rolled over into the median.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His car was found a mile west of the crash scene. The vehicle was out of fuel and had a dead battery.

An investigation is underway.
