Du Bois Man Killed in Car Crash at Highway 77 and Highway 8 in Gage County

Gage County, Nebraska (October 4, 2019) – A Du Bois man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening in Gage County, a local news source reported.

The crash happened just before 7:00 p.m. October 3, at the intersection of Highway 77 and Highway 8.

Deputies said a gold 2005 Mercury Mountaineer was heading northbound on Highway 77 approaching the intersection. A red 2015 Chevrolet Impala was heading southbound on Highway 77 approaching the intersection. The Impala then turned eastbound in front of the Mercury, resulting in a collision.

The impact caused the Mercury to flip on its side and the Impala to spin clockwise eastbound onto Highway 8.

The Mercury driver was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A passenger in the Impala was airlifted to Bryan West with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

All the involved people were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs were unlikely factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
