Jim Harris Sept. 11, 2019

Omaha, Nebraska (September 11, 2019) – A 9-year-old boy was seriously injured after being hit by a Metro city bus Tuesday evening in Omaha, according to the police.

The accident happened around 5:00 p.m. September 10, near 20th (Florence Boulevard) and Pinkney streets.

Police said the boy was riding an electric scooter southbound when the bus attempted to pass the boy. The boy then hit the middle of the bus.

According to witnesses, the boy might have had headphones on at the time of the crash, which made him unable to hear the bus driver honking at him.

The boy was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

No further details were provided.

An investigation is underway.
