TWO KILLED IN TRAIN ACCIDENT ON ROAD 716 NEAR MCCOOK

McCook, Nebraska (August 29, 2019) – Two people were killed Tuesday afternoon in a train accident east of McCook, a local news source reported.

The fatal crash occurred around 4:25 p.m. August 27, on Road 716.

Deputies said an eastbound train was approaching the crossing when a sedan drove up from the south to pull onto Road 716, and it didn’t stop and was hit by the train.

The train engineer began emergency procedures but was unable to stop in time.

Several emergency crews responded to the scene.

A couple in the sedan was killed in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
