TOBY SPAULDING KILLED IN TWO-VEHICLE CRASH ON COUNTY ROAD 747 NEAR ELM CREEK

Elm Creek, Nebraska (September 23, 2019) – A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night just south of Elm Creek in Phelps County, according to a local news source.

The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. September 22, in the area of County Road 747 and U.S. Highway 183.

NSP said Toby Spaulding, 39, of Holdrege was driving eastbound on County Road 747 when he ran a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into a recreational vehicle driven by Marshall Nelms, 41, of Kearney.

The impact caused the RV to roll into a ditch.

Spaulding was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Nelms and a passenger were uninjured in the crash. They were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
