LOIS KIRKPATRICK KILLED, MATTHEW HAMMOND CRITICALLY INJURED IN CAR CRASH AT COUNTY ROADS 19 AND Q IN FREMONT

Fremont, Nebraska (September 6, 2019) – A woman was killed, and a man was critically injured Tuesday afternoon in a traffic collision at a Fremont intersection, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash occurred around 4:08 p.m. September 3, in the area of County Roads 19 and Q.

According to a preliminary investigation, Matthew Hammond, 23, of Fremont, was driving a 2000 GMC tilt cab truck southbound when he collided with a 2019 Mack tractor-trailer which was eastbound on County Road Q.

Hammond and his passenger, Lois Kirkpatrick, 44, of Fremont, had to be extricated. They were both wearing seatbelts.

Kirkpatrick was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hammond was airlifted to Nebraska Medicine Hospital in Omaha in critical condition.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Monte Petersen, 71, of Fremont, was uninjured in the crash. He was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
