Sidney, Nebraska (September 5, 2019) – A man was killed in a head-on crash Tuesday afternoon near Sidney, according to a local news source.
The fatal crash occurred around 3:00 p.m. September 3, at mile marker 48 on Interstate 80.
NSP said Chance Seivley, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, was driving westbound on the interstate when he drifted off the shoulder and into the rumble strips. He then overcorrected, lost control of the car, crossed the median into the eastbound lanes, and crashed head-on into a semi-truck driven by Monte Larson of Salina, Kansas.
The impact caused the semi to catch fire.
Seivley was ejected and was declared dead at the scene.
An investigation is underway.
