Papillion, Nebraska (August 23, 2019) – The girl who was hit by a car on Tuesday at an intersection in downtown Papillion has died, according to the police.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, August 20, at the intersection of Second and Washington streets.
Police said Abigail Whitford, 10, was crossing Washington Street with her brother when a northbound vehicle struck her.
The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old stayed at the scene.
Whitford was taken to the hospital in critical condition where she died on Thursday, August 22.
The Papillion La Vista Community School said Whitford was a 5th grader at Trumble Park. They said counselors will be available at school on Friday.
The South Metro Crash Response Team is investigating the crash.
